Can persons who recovered from COVID-19 also request a second or third dose (depending on the vaccine)?
For persons whose infection with SARS-CoV-2 was detected by PCR or neutralising antibody tests (neutralisation tests/relevant NT correlates; before the first dose), a one-time vaccination is sufficient (off-label) for primary protection. It is recommended that you get vaccinated as of 4 weeks after the infection (PCR) or falling ill (recovery).
Persons, who have recovered and have been vaccinated, should get another dose as of 6 months after their first dose; this also applies if you were vaccinated with the Janssen vaccine. A third dose should be administered 6-9 months after the second dose.
