The vaccination provides almost complete protection from a severe course, or progression, of the disease. Although you do not have a higher risk of contracting the SARS-CoV-2 virus during pregnancy, the risk of having a severe progression of the disease is higher if you are infected while pregnant. Your risk of having a premature birth is also much higher if you are infected with the virus. By getting vaccinated while pregnant or breastfeeding, you pass on antibodies to your baby, thus automatically providing basic immunity to your little one after birth.
