The vaccination provides almost complete protection from severe progressions of the disease. Although you do not have a higher risk of contracting the SARS-CoV-2 virus during pregnancy, there is a higher risk of having a severe progression when pregnant. Your risk of having a premature birth is also three times higher if you are infected. By getting vaccinated while pregnant or breastfeeding, you pass on antibodies to your baby, effectively protecting the little one from the virus after birth.
